Jenny Wanger is a product manager for SpotHero, a top-ranking app that helps people park easier. Her years of product management experience prior to that include running the developer experience team at Arity, a startup founded by Allstate in downtown Chicago, and consulting for companies large and small as the owner of Avenir Design.
A researcher at heart, she only feels properly dressed when there’s a pack of post-it notes in her pocket. Find her studying user experience on the streets of Chicago or speaking at conferences around the globe.
Start with mental models. Once you have those defined, shape the content around it. Your data structures should reflect the real world. This is domain driven design for content. I’m totally hooked. 😍
Lesson one from @carriehd and @MikeAtherton: treat as much of your content as possible as structured data. The more well-organized it is, the easier it is to update. Change it in one place and have it cascade everywhere.
Will documentation ever actually be up to date?
Things I hate: process and work with no clear goals. If we’re going to go through the effort of doing something, it better be crystal clear why we’re doing it.
